Our journey began with the name Hopever, a blend of hope and forever, created to represent optimism and intention. What started as a small online presence soon grew into something more personal. In the early days, you could find us at local event markets such as Park Silly Sunday Market, Ogden Farmers Market, and other community gatherings, where we shared our pieces face to face and built genuine connections along the way.
As our vision evolved, so did our name. Llama Butterfly became a more complete reflection of who we are and what we value: nature, beauty, quality, and comfort.
The name was inspired by our daughter, who at three years old joyfully declared, “I’m a butterfly.” Her imagination and confidence captured the spirit of our brand from the very beginning. Today, she continues to inspire us, reminding us that growth, creativity, and transformation can be both meaningful and beautiful.
The Llama in our name honors our Peruvian roots, where each piece is thoughtfully developed with our team in Peru, blending tradition, care, and refined craftsmanship. The Butterfly represents beauty and transformation, themes reflected in our designs through soft textures, balanced colors, and subtle nods to nature.
Founded by Patricia Smith, Llama Butterfly is deeply personal. Patricia works closely with her team in Peru to bring each design to life, using only the highest-quality materials. Our collections feature luxurious alpaca, baby alpaca, and carefully selected blends known for their exceptional softness, warmth, and lasting comfort.
What began online and grew through community markets has now found a permanent home. Alongside our online boutique, we are proud to welcome you to our physical location at City Creek Center in Salt Lake City, where you can experience the craftsmanship, texture, and warmth of Llama Butterfly in person.

Alpaca fiber is naturally silky, breathable, and warm without being heavy. To preserve these incredible qualities, we craft our products with the finest alpaca blends:
70% Alpaca, 30% Acrylic – This blend enhances alpaca’s natural softness while providing durability and shape retention. The result? A luxuriously soft feel that lasts.
100% Alpaca – Pure, unblended alpaca for the ultimate softness and warmth.
100% Baby Alpaca – The finest grade of alpaca fiber, incredibly lightweight, smooth, and gentle against the skin.
Many brands claim to sell high-percentage alpaca products, but the reality is often different. If an alpaca product feels rough, stiff, or lacks the signature softness of true alpaca, chances are it contains a higher percentage of wool or synthetic fillers than advertised. Some products are priced so low that it’s clear they’re not made with the high-quality alpaca they claim to be.

These materials are often used to make products cheaper to produce, but they take away from the softness, breathability, and hypoallergenic properties that make alpaca special.
